Dr Graham McCollum graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2000 with an MBChB degree. After completing his internship and community service, he travelled to the UK, gaining further experience in Orthopaedic Surgery for 2 years.
He came back to Cape Town to specialize as an Orthopaedic surgeon, completing his training ( FC Orth SA) in 2011. To further his education, skills and experience he travelled to London and Baltimore in the USA to complete fellowship programs in Foot and Ankle surgery with James Calder and Mark Myerson. Both are world-renowned in their own fields of Sports medicine and Foot and Ankle reconstruction.
Currently he is a consultant, senior lecturer at the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital and has a private practice at Life Kingsbury hospital and UCT Private Academic hospital. He consults at the Sports Science Institute (SSI) on a Thursday afternoon.
His areas of interest include sports injuries of the foot and ankle, trauma, fractures, posttraumatic reconstruction and degenerative conditions. He works closely with his rehabilitation teams to manage conditions post operatively and non surgically.
Dr McCollum remains academically active, sits on the reviewing committee of several journals and authors regular scientific articles and textbook chapters Through his fellowship training abroad he has built up a network of international surgeons who he regularly collaborates with.
